BPSSC Bihar Police SI Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The BPSSC Bihar Police SI Recruitment 2026 Selection Process is designed to assess candidates through multiple stages, including written examinations, physical tests, document verification, and medical fitness. Candidates must successfully qualify at each stage to be considered for final appointment as a Bihar Police Sub-Inspector (Daroga).

1. Application Scrutiny

The commission will first verify all online applications. Only candidates who fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria will be shortlisted to appear for the Preliminary Written Examination.

2. Preliminary Written Examination

The Preliminary Exam is an objective-type screening test consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 200 marks. Candidates will be given 2 hours to complete the examination. The question paper will cover topics such as:

• General Knowledge
• Current Affairs
• English Language
• Hindi Language
• Reasoning Ability

Candidates must secure at least 30% qualifying marks to be eligible for the next stage. Based on performance, up to 10 times the total category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

3. Main Written Examination

The Main Examination consists of two papers.

Paper-I (Objective Type)

• 200 Multiple-Choice Questions

• Negative Marking: 0.25 mark for each incorrect answer

Paper-II (Descriptive Type)

• Total Marks: 50
• Duration: 1 Hour

This paper evaluates candidates on:

• Hindi Essay Writing
• English Essay Writing
• English Precis Writing
• Hindi to English Translation

Candidates are required to obtain at least 30% marks in both papers. Based on the Main Examination results, candidates up to three times the number of advertised vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted for the next stage.

4. Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Shortlisted candidates must appear for the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET). During this stage, the prescribed standards for height, chest measurement (for male candidates), and weight (for female candidates) will be verified. This stage is qualifying in nature, and no marks are awarded.

5. Final Merit List

The final merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Written Examination. If two or more candidates secure the same marks, the tie will be resolved in the following order:

• Candidate with higher age.
• Candidate possessing higher educational qualifications.
• Alphabetical order of the candidate’s name in Hindi as recorded in the Class 10 certificate.

6. Medical Examination and Character Verification

Candidates included in the final merit list will undergo a medical fitness examination followed by character and antecedent verification. Appointment will be offered only to candidates who satisfy all medical standards and verification requirements. Candidates found medically unfit, involved in disqualifying criminal cases, or declared ineligible under the recruitment rules will not be considered for final appointment.
